Petra Zsivanovits graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine Hanover, Germany in 1998. In 1999 she started her employment at the Lansdown Veterinary Hospital in England, from where she finished her doctorate thesis in co-operation with the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust Slimbridge, studying mycobacteriosis in waterfowl in 2001. In 2004 she completed her residency approved by ECAMS (European College of Avian Medicine and Surgery) – precursor of ECZM (European College of Zoological Medicine). In 2005/2006 she was head of the clinical and pathological department of the avian clinic of the Ludwig-Maximillians University in Munich. In 2007 she opened her own avian parctice in the North of Germany, where she is offering specialist veterinary care for birds of all shades. Currently she is chair of the avian specialty of ECZM.
